since launch we heard mixed feedback about the unlocked account as a whole originating from completely different communities.
The unlocked account was initially intended to be a commercial product that helps us to cover the storage costs for user generated content which is mostly caused by private content.
Many people did not like the fact that they have to pay just to contribute to the public content pool of the game, which is valid criticism that we understand very well. Public creators were not the main target we had with the unlocked account in the first place.
The unlocked account was meant to help with costs for those, that upload hundreds of avatars exclusively for private use.
After discussing this topic internally several times we have come to the conclusion that supporting public content creators is very important and we would like to do the following changes to the unlocked account:
- The limit for private content without the unlocked account would be increased to 20 instead of 10
- Public content does not contribute into the limits, so if you create 10 public worlds, you can still upload 20 private worlds or avatars without the necessity to buy the unlocked account.
Since the unlocked account is a paid commercial package we would like to hear everyones opinion about the change before making it.
Keep in mind that we are thinking about doing this change solely to enable more creators to contribute meaningful content to the platform for everyone to enjoy and lighten the limits for those who are looking into the platform as new users.
